Summer You're So Beautiful

I've been holding on to these images for a while, planning on mixing them into an inspiration series, but when I looked at them today I decided I didn't want to separate them anymore. Ahhh... the beauty of a summer day on the beach. Nothing else to say. These photos are the work of NeSpoon, a graffiti artist/designer from Warsaw Poland. NeSpoon spent the day at Oak beach on the Baltic sea, playing around with her lace stencils on driftwood and sand to create these beautiful installations.

Fendi: Fall 2011 Ad Campaign featuring Anja Rubik

This fall's Fendi Campaign is shot by Karl Lagerfeld, a man who is incontestably brilliant but for whom I have mixed feelings. However, my mixed feelings are irrelevant here. The fact that Lagerfeld himself is so bourgeois that he believes gays who want family and marriage are taking on a bourgeois identity as a backlash against the tragedy that so many cool gays died of aids 20yrs ago is also irrelevant to this Fendi campaign. On a side note however, if you'd like to see the Vice magazine interview in question, click here

This is beautiful work. Watercolors and the theme of the model as a muse are irresistible. The campaign showcases the collection's classic European elegance, earthtones, cable knit thigh-highs and furs, inspiring modern chic options for fall. I love this campaign. Gucci's campaign on the other hand, is looking no more creative than a season at Bebe. Fall 2011 Gucci colors are as vibrant as they were for spring but the theme is redundant and unoriginal, relying more on the sex sells crutch instead of delivering something new. Click here, and disagree with me

Serpents by Guido Mocafico

Guido Mocafico is an Italian artist and specialist in still life photography. His work is featured in magazines such as Paris Vogue, Numéro, and Wallpaper. Mocafico has also worked on advertising campaigns for many of the big fashion houses. Featured above is his Serpens series, which can be purchased through Amazon or Steidl.
The living snakes are photographed in close-quarter confines, causing them to wrap and overlap amongst eachother in fascinating patterns and shapes. I personally love snakes. I used to own one a few years ago. Poor lil guy died after I left him in the care of my neighbor. Regardless of how you feel about these creatures, I think it is impossible not to appreciate the colors, sharpness, and overall beauty of these images.

Lookbook.nu faves!
Anyone who knows me knows that I think Lookbook.nu is the most empowering fashion forum on the web today. For those of you who don't know what the site is about, the concept is simple: wear an outfit, make it fab, photograph it, and publish. It goes without saying that some lookbookers take their fashion more seriously than others, and here's where I come in. I've been following the site for a while and have become a pretty big fan of some of these fashion enthusiasts. Been meaning to feature some Hyped looks on my blog for awhile now so here you go: some of my favorite lookbookers in some of my favorite summer looks.
